Open year-round in Silver Gate, Montana, we are located about one mile west of the Northeast Entrance of Yellowstone National Park on the north side of Highway 212.
SILVERTIP MOUNTAIN CENTER brings customers over twenty five years of mountaineering experience. We select and manufacture the very best outdoor equipment available on the planet. Our gear is always backed by our remarkable knowledge, service and advice about outdoor adventure.
Snuggled literally at the foot of Silvertip Mountain, our shop is at the very core of the breathtaking Beartooth-Absaroka wilderness. We are between Granite Peak (Montana’s highest mountain), Cody Southfork and Hyalite Canyon climbing. Silvertip Mountain’s drainage, within a mile behind the shop, shelters Silver Falls, a waterfall climb (4). The view out the shop’s front window reveals at least three waterfall (4+) ice climbs. Our shop is cozy yet spacious. Using sustainable and reclaimed materials, we converted a former hotel into our shop. Actually, this is the same room in which one of our owners, Laurie, lived as an infant. In the 1970s, her parents ran the Timberline Lodge out of the same building where she and Jay now have this unusual mountain shop. This is where you can begin any outdoor journey on your dream-list!
